I’m thrilled to have 4 paintings in the upcoming Cr8ery Gallery Members Exhibition.
Two Summer Landscapes
I painted two landscapes for the show this summer at the lake. They capture a closer view of Longpine Lake, which we can see from our cottage, than is usual for me This time I sat on a rock near the lake rather than looking at it from the cottage deck, which is further away and at a higher elevation
Having a different vantage point changed my perception of the morning light on the lake as well as overall perspective. Since there were lots of bears at the lake this year and I was away from the safety of the deck my husband picked blueberries close-by and we talked to each other while I painted. It worked. No bears were spotted!
I competed the two 8” x 10” ( in 11” x 14” frame) paintings below.
Two Winter Landscapes
The other two paintings I submitted were painted last fall from reference photos. I had created them as part of the ‘2018 Touch of the Season Collection,’ but they have yet to be shown in an exhibition. Regrettably my mother passed away in early November last year and I postponed showing them.
Both paintings depict views close to my cottage in early winter with snow on the ground. I rarely paint winter scenes, but enjoyed these ones so much I have decided to do another small series of ‘Touch of the Season’ paintings this year ( I’ll be posting these next week).
The two winter paintings in the show are below.
The 100+ Exhibition runs from November 15 to November 26. The Opening Reception is from 7-10 pm at Cre8ery on November 15. Please join us.
